Kabul Kabob - a nice little find...

Its been a while since I've been active on the blog but now it's time to get back to the dinner table. I was honestly surprised by this spot.
I called to make reservations --
Hello, do you have room for 4 tonight at 7 pm? Silence...
I'd like to make reservations if you do. More silence.
I know someone was there because he said hello and announced the name of the restaurant when he answered the phone.
Yes, we have room. We'll see you tonight. Click; ominous start.
The food was much better than the introduction.
The space was about as big as my closet with the doors taken off. I have a big closet but when you have more than 4 people in there you know it's a packed party. The decor, hmmm, let's just say it was a little better than the tables we have in our backyard.
The food made up for not only the lackluster reservation process, but also the holly hobby decor, tables and chairs.
The ground beef kabobs were perfectly seasoned. Not too salty but enough to know it was there. The steak and chick kabobs were also good. The chicken was a little too done but not chewy.
The lamb curry and "spicy" beef (Melia's dish) were excellent. We ordered all of our food mild instead of spicy and it was perfect.
At the end of the night I got the impression that our waiter, host, chef, dishwasher extraordinaire, would best be served to take a couple of etiquette lessons, or swallow a couple of happy pills. Even though he only spoke 3 words to us all night, "Here' s your check" it did not take away from the fact that this was actually a pretty good place. In the end the service was "fine" and I'll definitely be back.
