Thunder softball escapades...summer & fall

Following a miserable Saturday performance in our most recent tourney the first weekend of October, we pulled it together on Sunday to reach the championship game in the Silver Division of our 2nd 16U tourney, taking 2nd place against a very hard hitting team, Paradise Bobcats. More importantly, we did it on our home fields in Elk Grove!

In our last tourney of the summer season we had our best performance all year in the 14U division. We went 6-0 on the weekend, scored 55 runs and gave up only in the Championship game over CenCal. It was a great way close out our summer of fun since a handful of our players would be moving on to high school volleyball for the fall.

Coming off of a frustrating previous tournament the weekend before this Thunder squad made a few teams pay, including our local rivals, the AA Mizuno team! We walked away with first place in the iFA Fastpitch Fever tourney to help us prepare for the ASA Association tourney at which we took 4th place the following weekend, winning a berth to the Regionals. We were unable to accept the spot though because we were heading to Portland, OR for a week-long NSA Western Nationals event.

Thunder 14U 2010

What a FUN experience! Maddie Lopes (bottom, 2nd from left) won a scholarship raffle. We went 0-3 to begin and then were fighting for our lives. Won games #4 & #5, eliminating two Washington teams from the tournament. In our 4th game on day 2 (6th game of tourney) we simply ran out of gas and couldn't prevail. But it was a fantastic experience and very fun road trip!
