Thunder team takes 2nd in Halloween Tourney

Nearing the end of the fall ball tourney season the Thunder team headed to Modesto for a Halloween-themed tourney. Day one (Sat, Oct 25th) was not a great showing for the Thunder. The team dropped all three games to the opposing teams. Sunday, however, was an exciting day of softball.
Honestly I wasn't sure I'd make it to see the first game so I desparately hoped they would win it just in case I was late arriving. Early in the day my Dad and I drove up to Rocklin to see the first game of the day for the Rockstarz and it was a nailbiter and exciting and they won....but it did go a little longer than expected. So, we jumped in the car and took off for Modesto, arriving nearly an hour into the expected game one.
Turned out there were earlier delays that pushed their game start back and when we arrived the game hadn't even begun. We were treated to an exciting win - Kali smashed a triple in that game. And that followed with a win in game two to put the Thunder into the division championship game for the tourney. The girls played their hearts out and took second place, losing to the Hollister Heat. At least Grandpa had a caravan to follow back home most of the way from Modesto!

Rockstarz TAKE IT ALL!

The 2008 Winterball season came to an exciting close the weekend of Oct 25/26 in Rocklin, CA. A season ending tournament was held to finish the season. The Rockstarz rolled through five teams to become the undisputed champs of the fall season. Melia led her team (3-0) on the mound to exciting wins and was quite productive with the bat too. She knocked in game winning runs with a spectacular double in game number three to move her team along toward the championship game. In the final game the Rockstarz outdid our Elk Grove friendly rivals, the Shockwave. It was a fitting end to an exciting season. Overall the team went 10-1-1 in regular season and had opened the season tourney with a second place finish in early Sept.
With rec ball behind us we are now gearing up to launch a new 14U EGGSL Thunder travel team with a core group of the Rockstarz/All-Star/Bratz teams we have been playing with throughout 2008.
