EG Thunder takes 2nd in searing Modesto heat

Beating the 100+ temps this past blistering May weekend, the EG Thunder 14U team placed for the second time this season, taking 2nd place honors in a tournament at Rainbow Fields. Kali was ROBBED of a sure double (maybe triple) in the championship qualifier game. A lot of balls hung in the hot air this weekend, helped by the warm breeze blowing in toward home plate all weekend. The Thunder girls had to claw and fight for every hit and run they got this weekend. Fortunately we recently re-acquired two returning players to the team who had been finishing up their JV season as freshmen at local high schools. These two players add depth to the roster and in one case it was none too soon because our regular catcher is out with a broken finger (not from softball) and Amanda A. has a rocket for an arm, can block the plate like I've never seen in a 14 year old and rips the ball . The rest of this season will be HOT and the team is really starting to get momentum.

Bratz w/Batz take 2nd place in tourney

The Bratz w/Batz are currently undefeated (8-0) in the Elk Grove Girls Softball 12-U division. In the league's Sizzlin' Slam tournament we took 2nd Place, losing to the Crushers in the championship game. Melia recently had her best game of the season vs. the Crushers in regular season play. She pitched a complete 5 inning game, gave up a couple of hits, walked a couple of batters, and struck out ELEVEN batters in an amazing game by the entire team. We won the game 5-3!
