Winter 2007 - Crushers softball team

Winter ball was a new experience for us this year! It was a lot of fun - mostly. The best part - travelling around to local cities and towns to play games and tournaments at the start and end of the season. The hardest part - not knowing from week to week if Kali was going to stay on the team. The teenage years are shaping up to be interesting times for the Roberts family. :-)

Leatherby's - 5 Forker

Without a doubt this is the best ice cream parlor I've been to.

The food, ahhh who cares. After the waiter/waitress brings your sundae to your table, you won't remember the food anyway. The sundaes are huge and dripping over the rim with toppings. The ice cream and toppings are made on site. You won't find any Safeway or Raley's branded topping in this place.

If you want to get food, stick to the basics (hamburger, french fries). Margaret had a salad that wasn't anything to write home about (so I won't), I had a chicken sandwich that was ok, I think. The girls had burgers. The service - they have wait staff, they don't get in the way, they bring you huge amounts of ice cream. What more do you want? If you don't like them, get it to go.

This place is all about the ice cream so let's get back to the main attraction - creamy, rich, well balanced (not too sweet). I highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for something other than the frozen yogurt, diet friendly dessert we in California are being brain-washed into thinking is what we need. If the food was better, this would be an easy 6 forker.

Better Late than never...end of summer post

I know we are going into December but I've been busy...

Here's a quick run down of what you've missed --

We went to Phoenix, Philly, Disneyland and on a 3 day family cruise out of Los Angeles.

It was our first time in Philly. It was good to catch up with Shannon and Jeremy. They live in the burbs and have a very nice, huge place. On the flip side you have downtown Philly. The girls and I did quite a bit of site seeing, shopping and of course eating. The cheese steak was excellent by the way. Downtown is not the cleanest place to be. As a matter of fact, there were some streets that smelled like they haven't been cleaned since the Declaration of Independence was signed, and we'll leave it at that.

The cruise was our first and was part of the Robinson family reunion. It was good to see everybody and we had a good time until Melia got sick in the middle of the night. I could go on and describe this but suffice to say that the person who took care of our cabin was not happy to receive my 2:30 am call for help.

I had quite a bit of time alone when Margaret went to Oregon and Kali and Melia went to Science camp at UC Davis. I used the time to clean out and rearrange a junky closet, play video games and buy French doors. Before and after pictures you've seen at the top of this entry.

What else do we have -- Kali and Melia went to Girl Scout Camp and Kali also went to a horse riding camp. Whew, I think that was more than enough for a couple of months! If summer were any longer I think we'd be broke.

That's the quick, cliff notes version of the Roberts Summer Vacation 07. Be sure to catch my next post in June when I do the Winter update...
